Congratulations to all the winners of the RCN Nursing Awards 2022

NHS Professionals would like to congratulate all the winners of the RCN Nursing Awards, whose pioneering projects have improved patient care and services across all specialities.

The recipients of the prestigious awards were revealed at an event for the finalists on Thursday 6 October at RCN headquarters in London.

As sponsors of the Mental Health Nursing category, NHSP would like to specially congratulate the Mental Health Animal Welfare Team at the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

This nursing team is improving the mental health of young people by talking about animals and their protective behaviours and working with young people to explore their own protective behaviours and what they need to feel mentally safe and well. The programme, co-designed by young people in conjunction with mental health nurses and animal welfare workers, is targeted at young people who struggle to engage in education or one-to-one and group therapies. Psychological therapist and senior nurse Callum Moore was inspired to launch the programme after working with a young patient who had not left the house for a year.

Completing the programme offers young people recognition of their achievements through accreditation and a bridge to education and job opportunities.

Juliette Cosgrove, Chief Nurse at NHS Professionals said “It was fantastic to see nursing professionals being recognised for their hard work ethic, commitment, and the positive difference they are having in their local communities – it was an incredible night of recognition. A huge congratulations to all the winners.
