Pay Rates: 

Day £22.89, Nights & Saturdays £29.42, Sundays and Bank Holidays £35.96 (Rates exclude Holiday Pay)

We have flexible Bank shifts, long term placements and substantive opportunities available for Band 6 Mental Health Nurse available at Surrey and Borders Partnership Trust (SABP)

One in four people in the UK will experience mental health issues at some point in their lives. SABP are passionate about support and recovery for both those affected and their loved ones.

SABP are commissioned to provide secondary mental health services across Surrey and NE Hampshire, both in the community and within inpatient settings.

Skills/Responsibilities:

Duties:

  • Carry own caseload and undertake holistic assessments including risk of the child/adolescent/family needs, either individually or in identified complex cases jointly with another member of the Team.
  • Provide short term treatment to CYP.
  • To liaise with Social Care, Education and other appropriate agencies/professionals /carers to ensure best outcomes for CYP.
  • Act as a lead professional for CYP following initial assessment. Developing appropriate plan of care.
  • Offer support for Students on placement.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining accurate and timely records of all work undertaken in accordance with Trust policies and Professional body requirements.
  • Provide statistical information on all activity undertaken, in line with Trust procedures. Have basic IT skills and Data entry skills to enter clinical information on the data bases.
  • Contribute to the teams overall standard of services provided.
  • Promote effective liaison with all statutory and voluntary agencies concerned with CYP and mental health.
  • Through the appraisal and supervision systems identify own training needs and undertake continuous professional development.
  • Ensure high standards of care are provided, and that regard to dignity, individuality, self-esteem and wellbeing of individuals and their families are given.  Monitored and evaluated on a continuous basis.

To apply for this post, you will:

  • Post qualification experience of working in the community with young people with mental health difficulties and their families.
  • Experience of and ability to undertake:
    • o Mental Health Assessments,
    • o Risk Assessment and implementation of risk management plans
    • o Use of outcome measures to evidence good practice
  • Degree or diploma level qualification in Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy
  • NMC registration
  • Experience of working within a mental health hospital setting
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of record keeping
  • Be able to work as an independent practitioner
  • Be proficient in the delivery of care to patients
  • Undertake regular mandatory training

In order to apply for this post you must have at least 6 months experience as a Mental Health Registered Nurse (or equivalent position) in a mental health hospital or Prison setting within the last 2 years. Along with the skills to carry out basic clinical observations. Unfortunately, we cannot consider applications without the required experience.
