CAMHS Consultant

Doctors Direct have new opportunities for CAMHS Consultants with Psychiatry experience at many sites across Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust providing community, inpatient and outpatient mental health care.

This is a replacement post as full time Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The post holder will join a developing multidisciplinary team in providing a comprehensive child and adolescent mental health service to Leamington Spa and the surrounding rural area. The post holder will have opportunity to demonstrate their enthusiasm in teaching and training through participation in under and post graduate training. The post holder will use their skills in leadership and team building in addition to using their clinical expertise to interactively offer consultation and support the wider service and allied service professionals.

 

Main job duties

  • The Post-holder will support the work of the CAMHS and multidisciplinary teams. This will include reviewing patients with the multidisciplinary team, providing advice on complex cases and holding an individual caseload.
  • This is a strategically important post, including work for patients admitted to Tier 4 hospital. The Post-holder will liaise appropriately with tier 4 colleagues to facilitate the smooth transfer of care in the transitions between urgent and planned care.  The Post-holder will be actively involved in shaping and improving the service offered in the community to best meet the needs of users and carers.
  • The post is based upon 10 programmed activities (PA’s) a week, 7.5 for direct clinical care and 2.5 for supporting professional activity.
  • This post will include participation in the CAMHS Consultant on call rota at an approximate frequency of one in eight with responsibility of work within this: Supporting and advising junior doctors when they request this; Urgent out of hours domiciliary assessments in the context of a Mental Health Act assessment & Assessments at local police stations

  • Start Date: ASAP-ongoing, no end date yet
  • Days per week: Monday-Friday (our client will accept part time doctors 2-3 days per week)
  • Shift Pattern: 9:00-17:00, including on call occasionally
  • Pay rate: £100-£125 per hour (depending on experience)

 

Minimum requirements

  • Valid GMC
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Clinical attachment complete
  • Minimum 3 months paid UK experience
  • AC Status essential
  • S12 desirable

 

Our client will consider international doctors who do not have paid UK experience in areas’ whereby there is high demand, however you MUST meet the following requirements:

  1. Minimum 10 years international CHAMS experience – essential (this must be detailed in CV)
  2. Valid GMC – essential
  3. Right to work in the UK – essential
  4. Excellent in verbal and written English – essential
  5. AC Status - essential
  6. S12 - desirable
  7. Clinical attachment complete – desirable
