Working Shifts at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust


Before working your first shift at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, please read the following information regarding IT system access:


IT System Access

If you require system access for your role this will need to be requested by a Trust Manager. Upon attending your first shift, please speak to the Manager in charge who will be able to make arrangements for your access.

Transport & Parking

Tameside Hospital is situated on the outskirts of Ashton-under- Lyne, 1.6 miles from the town centre.

Travelling by Car

Using a Sat Nav? The address is: Mellor Road via Darnton Road, postcode: OL6 9RW.

The Stamford Unit is also situated on the Tameside Hospital site and you can access it through Darnton Road opposite Ashton Sixth Form College.

As a busy 24/7 hospital, car parking is always in great demand, so please make sure you leave plenty of time to find a space if you’re arriving by car.

When you arrive signs will direct you to the main visitors’ car park, found at the rear of the Hospital. There is also a smaller car park on Fountain Street, while visitors to A&E can also use the multi-storey car park. To improve security, most car parks have automatic barriers.

You will need to take a ticket on entry, keep it with you and pay for your parking using one of the five pay stations when you return to your car.

Current parking charges:

  • 1 hour – £2.00
  • 1–2 hours – £3.00
  • 2–4 hours – £4.30
  • 4-24 hours – £6.00

Pay machines take coins and notes only. If you wish to pay by card/Apple pay etc. please go to the Car Parking Office before returning to your vehicle.

Car Parking Office 

Information about car parking, including how to purchase reduced charge parking permits, contact the Car Parking Office on 0161 922 6899.

The office is open daily between 8am and 7.30pm and is located in the Atrium of Hartshead South. 

Travelling by bus and tram

There are currently two bus stops on the hospital site:

  • Hartshead South (located near the main Hartshead South entrance)
  • Hartshead North (located on Fountain Street)

The hospital is also 1.5 miles from Ashton-under-Lyne Metrolink Interchange which is around 30 minutes walk.

Travelling by train 

There are two train stations within reasonable distance of the hospital:

  • Ashton-under-Lyne station (accessible via Manchester Victoria)
  • Stalybridge station (accessible from Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria and Manchester Oxford Road stations)
