NHS Professionals named in Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025

NHS Professionals (NHSP) has been recognised as one of the best UK workplaces for 2025 as part of a prestigious and country-wide survey.
The Sunday Times’ Best Places to Work celebrates the UK’s top 500 employers, scoring six key areas: reward and recognition, instilling pride, information sharing, empowerment, well-being and job satisfaction.
This national programme highlights the best workplaces for women, the LGBTQIA+ community, disabled employees, ethnic minorities, younger and older workers, as well as those companies that provide the best wellbeing support.
Nicola McQueen, Chief Executive at NHS Professionals, said:
“I am absolutely delighted that NHSP have secured a place on the renowned Sunday Times Best Places to Work list. It is testament to the fantastic culture we are building, one that is centred around inclusivity and working together to always do our best for the NHS.
“I would like to thank everyone at NHSP who works so hard to promote an inclusive culture – especially our fantastic Staff Support Networks, EDI Council, People Forum, Change Champions and Thrive Ambassadors.
"This impressive achievement is testament to your commitment and dedication.”
In addition to this latest award, NHS Professionals recently further boosted its benefits for corporate staff with two new pioneering schemes.
The first is Flexible Public Bank Holidays.
Starting from Christmas 2025, this will mean that corporate employees can chose to work on up to five public holidays – Christmas Day, Boxing Day, from 2025, Good Friday, Easter Monday, and the late-May Spring Bank Holiday, from 2026, and take the time on an alternative date.
For example, any employee who is currently using their annual leave allocation to celebrate the religious holidays or observances that are central to their personal beliefs, will be able to use this scheme to flex the public holidays to their own personal requirements.
All corporate employees will be eligible to opt-in to the scheme and although some employers typically offer two to three public holidays to be flexed in this way, this market-leading initiative goes beyond that by offering five holidays that can be swapped.
Secondly, as part of NHSP’s Environmental and Social Governance strategy - NHSP for Good - the company has also introduced Volunteering Leave.
As part of this, employees can take part in up to two days of paid volunteering leave a year for a registered charity or public service that aligns with NHS Professionals values and purpose.
This might include green space creation, working with local or national charities and community organisations, or collaborating with local education providers.
Helen Ives, Chief People Officer at NHS Professionals, said:
“These two fantastic market-leading initiatives around flexible public bank holidays and volunteering leave really strengthen our position as an employer of choice in healthcare staffing.
"Coupled with the accolade of the Sunday Times award, it makes me immensely proud of the work our people do every day, to not only make a difference in the NHS, but also ensure we are building an organisation which everyone is proud to work for.”
