Ward Clerk / Administrator

 

We are looking for a Ward Clerk / Administrator to support different ward at Southampton General.

The University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust provides services to 1.9 million people living in Southampton and south Hampshire, while also providing specialist services such as neurosciences, cardiac services, and children's intensive care to the wider area.

The Trust is made up of 6 locations with Southampton General Hospital being the largest, running specialist services, emergency, and critical care along with outpatient clinics, diagnostic and treatment work, surgery, research, education and training. This is a large and busy site.

We have a placement available for a Ward Clerk at Southampton General Hospital (Tremona Road Southampton SO16 6YD) for an ASAP start and initially for 3 months with possible extension.

If you’re not already on the bank you will need to be able to provide a reference covering a 6-month period of employment within the last 3 years.

The working hours are 37.5 hours per week.

Monday - Friday 8.00 – 16.00 / 9:00 – 17:00



The role is to provide clerical support to a designated ward, to relieve professional staff of clerical procedures and act as a receptionist to patients and visitors.

The role will include the following duties:

Provide admin support to the ward.
Maintain a real-time bed state by updating in-house systems with all patient movements routinely throughout your shift.
Support patient flow by updating all Trust systems & efficiently booking transport as requested
Relieve Clinical staff of general administrative procedures where appropriate
Act as receptionist to patients and visitors and answer the phones
Manage patients notes during admission and following discharge
